Dan Brown - Bench Jeweler
It was the classic "father-in-law knows best" story with a happy ending. A youth case worker at a juvenile detention home in Lancaster County, Dan Brown fell in love with a school psychologist named Tina who happened to be Ron Finch's daughter.
"Ron and I were talking one day and he asked if I would consider joining the business. I had always liked art, even had some jewelry classes, and thought this could be something really enjoyable."
Dan learned everything about being a bench jeweler under Ron Finch's expert tutelage, and with five years of on-the-job training he's now known as the "Laser Guru" specializing in jewelry repair.
Laser beam welding is ideal for fine detail repair work and also permits the fabrication of complicated jewelry designs that were impossible to make using a traditional jeweler's torch.
"It's a great tool because you can do so many different jobs with it, from setting fragile or hard-to-set stones, to welding silver, gold, platinum and the new Palladium allows, to fabricating and assembling jewelry."
"I couldn't have had a better teacher, at any school!"
